POSITION: Summer Camp Counselor

POSITION OPENING: Summer Camp Counselor from June 8, 2026 to July 24, 2026 (Seasonal) / Training is June 1, 2026.

SCHEDULE: Various Shift Openings; AM Shift/ PM Shift/ Mid-Day Shift/ Floater

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assisting with the Camp Directors to run Camp Discovery Summer Camp Program for the duration of summer.

REQUIREMENTS: This job requires a clear level II background check. References required. Applicant must have reliable transportation to ensure they make it to camp on time.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with youth.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have clean background screening (level 2)

COMPENSATION: Compensation is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on previous experience. Position is hourly. Roughly 40 hours per week - Temporary Employment (6 Weeks).

DUTIES: The successful candidate is a highly motivated, creative, and energetic individual who wants to make a difference in people's lives and in our community.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

* Plan and implement meaningful activities, lesson plans and special events that are structured, age-appropriate, fun, exciting, challenging, and values based in the areas of arts, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), character development, literacy, creative expression, community service, physical fitness and/or nutrition.

* Perform specific scheduled assignments, including but not limited to, swimming, arrival and / or departure, and lunch duty.

* Support the planning and implementation of all camp activities, including but not limited to, summer learning initiatives, field trips, in-camp events, and culminating performances.

* Work cooperatively with all program staff.

* Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants.

* Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional or behavioral differences.

* Maintain accurate program documentation (attendance, sign in / out forms, behavior / incident / accident reports, as appropriate).
