We are looking for a Lead or Senior Power Systems Consultant to join Grid Software's Power Technologies International (PTI) team. PTI is our trusted advisor that takes a holistic approach, providing business advisory, technical consulting, and simulation software solutions. This role is critical to planning and integrating renewables, storage, large loads, and FACTS devices into the electrical grid. The Lead or Senior Power Systems Consultant will perform large-scale simulations of electrical transmission systems for Utilities, Regional Transmission Organizations, and energy asset owners to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system operations, while mentoring others on the team.
This is a remote position based in the contiguous U.S.
What you will be working on:
- Performing and leading consulting engagements related to power grid analysis and design, system dynamics and transients, system interconnection, and grid code compliance.
- Supporting and managing project execution, tracking project progress, and making necessary adjustments to maintain scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Producing reports and presentations in collaboration with team members to communicate study results.
- Maintaining relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, analyzing clients' business requirements and identifying opportunities for further business.
- Supporting and leading proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Supporting technical reviews of ongoing studies and contributing to the mentoring and development of junior consultants.
- Developing automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and boost overall efficiency.
- Delivering on-site consulting and training services.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience performing transmission power systems analysis, with demonstrated ability to independently execute and interpret power flow and dynamic stability studies.
- Professional experience with at least one of the following: electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, developers, electrical utilities consulting company, or national labs, including work involving at least one of PJM, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO, ERCOT, or SPP.
- Experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, and experience with or working knowledge of at least one of TSAT™, TARA, PSLF™, or PowerWorld.
- Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and an understanding of RTO and other regional planning criteria, procedures, and practices.
- Strong communication, presentation, and listening skills with demonstrated ability to write effective technical reports.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior relevant consulting and/or business development experience.
- Experience in distribution planning, DER integration, or microgrids, and familiarity with or experience using CYME, Synergi, or OpenDSS.
- Industry experience performing power system transient analysis using PSCAD™.
- Experience leading studies, managing budgets and schedules, and mentoring or developing others professionally.

The pay range for this position is $82,320 - $172,200 annually with a target incentive of 10% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
