Working Hours
The Radiologic Technologist will normally work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, except on Federal holidays. Radiology Technologists will not work more than 20 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Radiologic Technologist shall provide the following Radiology Technician services, including but not limited to the items listed below. Therefore, the Radiologic Technologist shall be capable of performing all required radiology procedures without technical support. The radiological equipment at the Federal Correctional Institute-Tallahassee (FCI-Tallahassee) is digital, whereas at the Federal Detention Center-Tallahassee (FDC-Tallahassee) it is analog.
Qualifications

Attire
Radiologic Technologists are expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the BPA employee will be performing. The contractor is prohibited from wearing khaki or green, as these are the colors worn by adults in custody.

- Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
- Type of Employment: Part-Time, 20 hours per month, not to exceed 250 hours per year.
- Period of Performance: Five years from the date of Award.
- Total Compensation: $36.97 per hour.

- Must be licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
- Must have an unrestricted state license to practice in the state of Florida as a Radiological Technologist.
- Be a graduate from an accredited school or program for a Radiological Technologist.
- Be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- A minimum of two (2) years of Radiological Technologist experience.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Knowledge of digital equipment is required.

- Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at the FCI/FDC Tallahassee.
- Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spine, and
- portable X-rays, etc.
- Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam. Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
- Work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
- Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
- Schedule exams and maintain records.
- Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
- Notify the radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam, so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
- Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
- Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
- Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
- Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
- Develop a working knowledge of FCI/FDC Tallahassee medical protocols.
- Wear outer protective clothing and always obey CDC universal precautions.
- Function in other duties commensurate with a Radiological Technician.

- Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.
- Printing of all folder and exam labels;
- Completing all X-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.
- Preparing digital X-rays to transmit to the contracted radiologist for interpretation.
- Transport of X-rays to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Transport all x-rays from the radiologist after interpretation.
- Assisting staff with equipment and supply maintenance, and notifying staff when supplies are needed.
- Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as needed.
- Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for JCAHO and program review as needed.
- Assuring that all X-ray requests are completed properly, and the computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis.
- Assuring that all x-ray equipment is operational and aprons are checked for leaks and breaks according to policy. Maintain log.
- Receive badges exposure reports.
- Give the report to the Clinical Director or designee for review and signature.
- Ensure that high exposures are documented.
- Prepare forms for badge orders quarterly.
- Maintain log.

- Transmit, retrieve X-ray images and report electronically, and scan reports into the Adults in Custody (AICs) Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
