Responsibilities

• Provide personal, academic, and career counseling for each individual student and conducts weekly group sessions. Schedule at least one meeting per semester with each participant on academic, personal and social issues. Keep a written and/or electronic log on the substance on contact meetings with each student. Provide standard reports on student engagement with services.
• Assess the needs of 80 students by using varied student data and other assessment tools. In collaboration with other program staff and students, develop a plan to support student growth based on assessment of student needs. Provide targeted intervention and support to juniors and seniors regarding college exploration, planning and completion.
• Responsible for recruiting and selection of student staff and volunteers for implementation of program activities and services. Serve as supervisor of student employees or volunteer staff; and provides ongoing training and development for student staff.
• Assists the Upward Bound Program Manager in ensuring that the programmatic schedules of the program are communicated and achieved. Facilitate the program when the Program Manager is absent. Implements and attends motivational and personal development activities.
• Responsible for liaison activities among the Gadsden County School District's office, Gadsden County High administration, and tri-county businesses (career Fairs).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
• A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver's License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of University rules and regulations.
• Prior customer service experience and/or experience working with students in an educational setting.
• Ability to extract complex academic information from various sources and maintain confidentiality.
• Experience and/or working knowledge of student advising, counseling, or working one-on-one with people in a professional or academic setting.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
• Ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with minimal to moderate supervision.
• Ability to deal with people in a calm, confident manner and with complete objectivity.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.
• Attention to detail with a high standard of integrity.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to students through the use of basic communication, helping, and problem-solving.

Anticipated Salary Range

$44,056.00, commensurate with education and experience.
