Responsibilities

The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.

This position is responsible for activities associated with the University Ambassadors program within the Office of Admissions.
  • Oversees the selection, training, and supervision of approximately 90 OPS University Ambassadors. Assists in the development of training and presentation materials (tour script, manuals, quizzes, etc.) to enhance the campus visit experience. Maintaining processes to ensure campus tour data is consistently reflected across multiple databases for quality data collection at the Welcome Center. Coordinates training and development programs for both staff and University Ambassadors (mock campus tours, role playing, training meetings, etc.). Maintains a thorough knowledge of University history, degree programs, student life, and campus offerings. Manages the quality of contacts in an effort to build relationships and assist prospective students, applicants, and parents regarding the admission process. Responsible for effectively and accurately communicating information about FSU and its admission and registration policies.
  • Represents the University for first-year and transfer admissions. Travels throughout Florida and out of state. Due to travel needs, position requires operation of a motor vehicle. Counsels prospective students and their family members, represents the University at sponsored events pertaining to Admissions, and provides information about the University and its programs. Interprets policies and procedures for University personnel, high school guidance counselors, state college/college/university counselors, and prospective students and their family members. Extensive contact with prospective students, applicants and their family members, the general public, and University officials. Frequent contact with high school counselors, principals, teachers, and officials from other colleges and universities.
  • Assists with the coordination of campus tours for high school student groups. Supports the planning and organizing of tours, admission sessions, open house, and campus partner sessions.
  • Assists in the evaluation of first-year applications. Assists other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Admissions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and five years of relevant experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.)

Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of complimentary experience preferred.
  • We seek enthusiastic candidates who are detail-oriented, and who work well independently as well as in a team.
  • Experience working with various populations, reviewing transcripts, and interpreting, and applying admissions tests is preferred.
  • Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments.
  • Experience should be relevant and related to the responsibilities of the job.
  • Qualified candidates will possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Experience counseling and/or providing expertise and advice is required.
  • Qualified candidates will have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or comparable software.
  • Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ideal candidates will have a strong sense of initiative, the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently, and the ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary range for this position is around $44,056.80 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
